Your Body is a Temple: Quiet Time

This “Your Body is a Temple”  post is inspired by a conversation I had with a friend a few weeks ago. She asked me, “What does your quiet time with the Lord look like?”

I laughed out loud.

Why?

Well, my quiet time with the Lord is not traditional.

There is no fireplace.

There is no big comfy reading chair.

There is no desk with highlighters and post-it notes.

There is not even a hard copy bible.

So what is there?

There is a stationary bike and an electronic device.

It’s the Lord, my bike and me (with an electronic device).

Why? It sets the mood for the day.  I start the day in conversation with the Lord while conditioning the body that is going to serve Him throughout the day.

For the record: I am NOT a morning person and working out is NOT the first thing I want to do in the morning.

Have you ever thought about integrating movement into your daily quiet time with the Lord? Maybe a walk around the neighborhood or the local high school track? Can’t leave the house? Try walking in place while conversing with the Lord.

How do you do it?

Whether you have 15 minutes or 45 minutes, incorporate these 3 things:

Gratitude:

Thank the Lord for everything that He has done and I thank Him for all He will do.

Guidance:

Ask the Lord to guide my steps, literally and figuratively.  Prayfit Collage

God’s Word:

Listen to sermons, devotionals, or an audio version of the bible.  My friend Tracee does excellent Video Devotionals on the Happy 2Ba Homemaker YouTube Channel.  Another great resource I just found is The PrayFit app.  It has a complete audio bible and it also has a reading plan for every day.  In the screenshot, I show one instance where I am listening to Geneses 29 and another instance where I listened to a daily reading plan.  Each daily reading plan is about 15 minutes.

Self-Reflection of the day:

Have you ever thought about integrating movement into your daily quiet time with the Lord?

Action Task of the day:

Take 5 minutes or more to move and praise the Lord.  Walk around your house or in place.  Just move and Praise the Lord.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank for everything You have done and continue to do in my life. If it is Your will, please help me find a way to integrate movement into my time with You.   I want to be spiritually and physically prepared to do Your work.  Please guide me in conditioning my spirit, mind, and body to best serve You.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Thanks for coming on this journey with me!
