Are you serving in your local church?
Why or why not?
In most churches, there are many people who just show up on Sunday morning. They are busy during the week and truly have no interest in serving at the church. Showing up on Sunday is enough time and energy. How do I know this? Up until a few years ago, that was me.
I never missed Sunday service and I always had my daily personal quiet time with the Lord. I would even sit in church recognizing skills that I had and how I could serve different ministries in the church. This went on for years. I acted like the church was there to serve me on Sunday mornings but never thought I should serve the church.
I realized that God has blessed me with gifts and talents and I was using none of them for His glory.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10
I was not given these gifts for my own benefit but to serve Him. It was overwhelming thought because I was so busy with work and my daughter, that I believed that I did not have any time. Do you ever feel like that?
God always make time for us, so why it is so hard for us to make to the serve Him and His people.
Christ came to serve yet we sometimes say we don’t have the time use the gifts He gave us to serve Him. As Christians, we strive to be more like Christ and He came to serve.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
How do we go about serving in church? What if we do not know what gifts we have that could benefit the church?
We are all given gifts by the Holy Spirit. In one of my first post, What are your Spiritual Gifts?, I talk about the different spiritual gifts and there is a link to an online Spiritual Gift test.
Taking the test will give you a good idea of what your gifts are. If you are not sure how your gifts would serve your church, take the results of the test to your church. Ask a spiritual church to help guide you to the ministries that are a good for you.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Please share in the comments what ways you are serving in your church or ways you can serve in your church.
My friends, Tina from Mom is Forever, and Tracee from Happy 2Ba Homemaker, are talking about Serving the Local Church on their sites today. Please follow the highlighted link or click their picture to read what they have shared.
